April 18 - 19 - 20

Installation of the Fresnel Lens base and lens.

The scaffold has been moved out of the way and an electric/hydraulic boom crane has been rented to lift the Lens parts up to the Lantern.

But first the base for the lens is bolted to the floor mount plate in the Watch Room.

Four Coast Guard men do the assembly with Kevin Fletcher assisting.

Soon the support assembly is complete up into the Lantern Room.

Finally, the base for the lens is in place in the Lantern room.

Next the various pieces of the Fresnel Lens are carefully loaded into the boom and lifted to the Lantern.

Up, up and away!

The lower quadrants of the Fresnel Lens are bolted into place.

By Monday the "Bulls - eyes" are in place and the upper quadrants of the lens are lifted and being set into place.

This is the view of one of the "Bulls - eyes" from the outer deck of the Lantern, looking in through the Lantern windows.

It is expected that assembly of the Lens will be complete by Tuesday and that the wiring connections will be complete by Thursday!

This is getting exciting!

On to next week
